Grey knights are so iconic that bolting on more to them would, for me, feel "wrong" but that doesn't mean it IS wrong. It's not that the colours won't work - I converted up some thousand sons pre heresy using the GK kits but I ended up having to remove/cover so much of what made it a grey knight I might as well have used any terminator.
